Clarence Ragsdale

From humble beginnings in the tiny oil town of Artesia, New Mexico, Mr. Ragsdale has gone on to accomplish enough for several lifetimes. Fresh out of high school, he turned down a football scholarship in order to serve in the Korean War, where he earned the Bronze Star for valor in combat. After receiving a masters in petroleum engineering at the University of Oklahoma, Mr. Ragsdale started Zia Petroleum, which eventually grew into a 300-million-dollar multinational corporation. His career in the public sector includes two terms as Governor of New Mexico and four terms in the United States House of Representatives. Today, Mr. Ragsdale runs a commercial ranch in southern New Mexico and is CEO of Bright Start, Inc., which oversees over 100 charter schools in the Southwest. Among his many charitable endeavors, he is a Trustee for the Santa Fe Opera, Presbyterian Hospital and the New Mexico Symphony.
Dr. Edward Westhead
BS, Dartmouth College, MD, PhD, Columbia University
Dr. Westhead is one of the world's foremost authorities on recombinant DNA technology. He received the first of his 16 patents while still in high school, and as an undergraduate at Dartmouth he founded XXY Corporation, a major provider of diagnostic tools for genetic research. After receiving his medical diploma, Dr. Westhead completed post-doctoral studies at the Institute. In 1995, his interest in prolonging the human life span led him to found the world-reknowned Gerontology Institute in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He recently returned to the Institute to shepherd the Methusela Project. Dr. Westhead is an avid runner who has finished the Boston Marathon five times.
Lee Eddy

Mr. Eddy joined Santa Rosa in 1995 as director of marketing director after five years with Collaborative Research in Lexington, Mass. He and his wife Sandy have three children.
