"Recognizing the work and family demands of our employees is, and will remain, one of the Santa Rosa Institute's top priorities," said Edward Westhead, M.D., Ph.D., chairman and chief executive officer. "Because we as a company place a premium on facilitating a balance between work and home, it is extremely gratifying to be recognized by Home & Office Magazine. "
Home & Office chose the 100 Best Companies in 2001 based on six criteria: percentage of women in the workforce, leave for new parents, flexible work arrangements, child care, work/life balance benefits such as counseling and support groups for employees, and opportunities for women to advance. This year, the magazine paid particular attention to how well companies are providing benefits to workers at lower income and job levels.
Among the Santa Rosa Institute's outstanding, family-friendly benefits recognized by Home & Office are flexible work arrangements and on-site child care facilities. In addition, the magazine acknowledged the Santa Rosa Institute's commitment to advancing women in the workplace. It noted that women comprise 40 percent of top earners and more than one-third of all executives at the Institute. Home & Office also recognized the Institute for expanding how the company helps employees balance the demands of work and life by reviewing and benchmarking its benefits in relation to other leading companies.
The Santa Rosa Institute is a leading biotechnology company that discovers and develops human pharmaceuticals for significant unmet medical needs. The company has its headquarters in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
